Sixteen Commercial Properties Win The Outstanding Building Of The Year® Awards

BOMA International Honors Excellence in Property Management and Operations

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 9, 2020) The commercial real estate industry honored 16 properties with The Outstanding Building of the Year® (TOBY®) Award today at the first-ever virtual awards ceremony hosted by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International.

The TOBY Awards are the commercial real estate industry’s highest recognition honoring excellence in building management and operations in 16 categories of building type or size. The 2020 competition featured 78 buildings from eight BOMA International regions. These buildings first won a TOBY Award from their BOMA local association and then went on to compete and win at the regional level. Judging is based on criteria that includes community impact, tenant and employee relations programs, energy management, accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs and overall quality indicators. A team of industry experts also conducted comprehensive building inspections.

The 2020 TOBY Award winners are:

Corporate Facility: 110 North Carpenter in Chicago, Illinois. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by 110 N. Carpenter, LLC and managed by Sterling Bay Property Management, LLC.

Earth Award: 488 Almaden in San Jose, California. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by Oracle America and managed by Embarcadero Realty Services.

Historical Building: Graybar Building in New York City. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned and managed by SL Green Realty Corp.

Industrial Building: Depot Park in Sacramento, California. The property is owned by BRE Depot Park LLC, a Link Industrial Property and managed by Cushman & Wakefield.

Medical Office Building: Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned and managed by Physicians Realty Trust.

Mixed-Use Building: MaRS West Tower in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by MaRS Phase II Investment Trust Inc. and managed by MaRS Real Estate.

Public Assembly Building: Whitney Ranch Recreation Center in Henderson, Nevada. The building is owned and managed by the City of Henderson.

Renovated Building: 1 North Dearborn in Chicago, Illinois. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by OND Property LLC and managed by MB Real Estate Services Inc.

Retail: Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto. The shopping center owned by Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and Ontario Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (OMERS) via subsidiary Oxford Properties Group and managed by Oxford Properties Group.

Suburban Office Park Low-Rise: Las Cimas II & III in Austin, Texas. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by Las Cimas Owner, LP and managed by Cushman & Wakefield.

Suburban Office Park Mid-Rise: The Water Garden in Santa Monica, California. The property is owned by JPMorgan and managed by CBRE.

Under 100,000 Square Feet: 11 Corporate Boulevard in Atlanta, Georgia. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by Government Properties Income Trust LLC and managed by The RMR Group LLC.

100,000—249,999 Square Feet: 1515 West Webster in Chicago, Illinois. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by 1511 W. Webster, LLC and managed by Sterling Bay Property Management, LLC.

250,000—499,999 Square Feet: 95 St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Company and managed by Colliers International.

500,000—1 Million Square Feet: 401 North Michigan in Chicago, Illinois. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by W-Z NMA Holdings VIII, LP and Invesco Real Estate and managed by Zeller Management Corporation.

Over 1 Million Square Feet: 1201Third in Seattle, Washington. The BOMA 360 Performance Program-designated building is owned by 1201 TAB Owner, LLC and managed by Wright Runstad & Company.
