The Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy
In the summer of 2019, the BOMA Fellows Leadership Academy was renamed the Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy in recognition of an exemplary BOMA member and BOMA Fellow for his contributions to BOMA and the commercial real estate industry. A BOMA member for more than 20 years, Dan served in various leadership positions throughout BOMA, including two terms as Secretary/Treasurer of BOMA International; two terms on BOMA International’s Executive Committee; three terms as president of BOMA/Memphis; two terms as the chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program Council; and chair of the Office Building Show LLC board. Throughout his career, Dan encouraged and mentored others to develop and improve their skills through education and professional development, and he guided many into leadership positions in BOMA at all levels. Dan received the BOMA International Chair’s Award in 2012 and was named a BOMA Fellow in 2017. He retired from his role as vice president, senior asset manager for Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors shortly before his passing in August 2019.
The Daniel W. Chancey Leadership Academy, hosted by the BOMA Fellows, is a mentoring program that provides guidance and support to BOMA members who are interested in leadership positions with BOMA International, whether as committee members, chairs or vice chairs, or even as potential Executive Committee members or Officers. More Information on BOMA International Committees can be found on BOMA’s Volunteer for Committees page. The Leadership Academy kicks off each year at BOMA’s Winter Business Meeting. Mentors and Mentees must commit to attending BOMA’s Winter Business Meeting and Annual Conference where Academy events and Mentor/Mentee networking are scheduled and follow through with several connections between Mentors and Mentees. There is no cost to participate, however, participants are responsible for their registration, travel, hotel, and other costs to attend the Winter Business Meeting and Annual Conference.
