What is your position/title at your current company?
I’m the Associate Director of Facilities and Real Estate Management at the University of Utah.
How long have you been in the Emerging Professionals Committee?
I’ve been involved with the Emerging Professionals Committee since July 2024.
What led you to the commercial real estate industry?
My path started in higher education facilities management, which gradually expanded into broader real estate and asset management. Over time, I realized how much of an impact the built environment has—not just operationally but also in shaping experiences, supporting missions, and building community. That pulled me further into the commercial real estate space.
What has your involvement been like at BOMA?
Being part of BOMA has been incredibly valuable. Beyond the EP Committee, I’ve recently been elected to the BOMA International Board of Directors. I’m especially focused on representing the voices of the academic and healthcare sectors in our industry and as our Emerging Professionals representative. I hope to provide a voice for all EPs. I currently serve on the BOMA International Education Committee, the BOMA International Conference Education Task Force, and the BOMA Utah Board of Directors. BOMA has been an excellent platform for professional growth, networking, and giving back.
What advice would you give to emerging professionals in the commercial real estate field?
Stay curious and get involved. The more you participate—whether through committees, events, or mentorship opportunities—the more you’ll grow and the stronger your network will become. There’s so much to learn from the people around you, and BOMA is full of folks willing to share their time and experience. My path to BOMA and as an EP hasn’t been traditional. Commercial property management is my “second career.” I want to show that emerging professionals come in all ages, educations, and backgrounds.
If you were trapped on an island and could only eat one food, what would it be?
Tough call, but I’d have to go with pot roast and mashed potatoes…I know that’s more than one food.
