BOMA Leadership

BOMA International's dynamic leadership is made up not only of 4 elected officers, the President and Chief Operating Officer and an elected Executive Committee, but it also includes the voices of all BOMA Local Associations through a 119 member Board of Governors. BOMA International is looking for leaders like you!

Volunteers are the driving force behind BOMA International. Your association’s strength and stature are a direct result of the commitment of those who volunteer to serve their colleagues and the entire commercial real estate industry. Why not take your involvement—and your career—to a higher level? Here is your chance to help shape the strategic direction of the organization and give back to your industry, all while sharing and growing your leadership skills. Become a candidate for BOMA International’s Executive Committee to the Board of Governors.

Working with other leaders in the commercial real estate profession, serving as a leader of BOMA International will provide you with valuable experience to enhance your career.

Interested individuals who meet the criteria must submit the following for the Nominating Committee’s consideration:

  1. A cover letter stating you are a member in good standing and your intent to step forward as a candidate. Be sure to include the position for which you are applying—descriptions can be found here. The letter should highlight your reasons for stepping forward as a candidate; the qualities, skills and experience that make you an ideal candidate for the position you seek; and how you see yourself and BOMA benefiting from the experience.

  2. A professional resume detailing your BOMA-related activities, along with your local, regional and international participation. We recommend dividing your experience into two sections on your resume: your work experience and your BOMA experience.

  3. A letter of support from your employer or partner supporting your candidacy and stating they understand the time commitment involved for the position. If you are the employer, your letter of intent will suffice.

  4. A letter of support from your BOMA local association supporting your candidacy.

  5. Three additional letters of endorsement (no more than three, please) from BOMA International members familiar with your BOMA activities. Please provide the endorsers with a copy of the position description so they are familiar with the position for which you are applying.

The committee recommends that individual endorsers do not write letters for more than one candidate per election. Note that current BOMA International officers or members of BOMA International’s Nominating Committee cannot provide endorsement letters.

  6. A high-resolution photo (300 dpi or at least 1MB in size).

All materials should be sent directly from candidate in one file via email (pdf or Word doc). Upon receiving the materials, each candidate will receive confirmation that the information has been received.

Additional instructions on the interview scheduling process will come later closer to the deadline.

The Nominating Committee will review all candidate materials and conduct the first round of interviews during the Winter Business Meeting. The second and final interview will be held during BOMA International’s annual conference.
